JAN 7

Going through the fire of suffering and hardship, the new born beautiful being is emerged.
Constant reflection is a wonderful way to remove our defilement and attachment.
If you convert and transform all seeds of negativity in your eighth consciousness, there will be only good fortunates. The method of conversion and transformation is to think good, speak good and act good.
Meditation and a motivation of helping all sentient beings are the only way to realise wisdom. Without wisdom and merits, we can not leave this cycle of death and birth.

Nowadays, it is very difficult to get a good master teaching Tai Chi. Most of them just teach the forms with no substance. It may be of good help to improve your health unless you have found a real good master. I suggest to some older ones to drink at least two to three glasses of plain water and do a morning walk in the park or walk in a circle in your room until you swear it out. And then sit down on a chair and do the breathing in and out exercise. I have suggested this to many poor old folks in my area. And it works to get rid of their pains. ( 2 cents opinion )

Contributed by CK MOK ( The religious groups should into this matter seriously)
Conducting proper prayers with the basic expenditure and not based on extravance to show the wealth of prayers is accepted generally by the public. I agreed that temples rely on donations and contribuitons (and churches alike). I have seen beautiful churches in Italy and temples in China, Taiwan and Thailand. Yet I feel the money spent should be diverted to helping the needy, the unfortunate, the destitues and the "untouchables" (as some countries named them). Funds and donations can be better used for publishing booklets on Dharma, Buddhist teaching and doctrines; building schools and homes for the poor and needy; conducting free clinics for the poor and needy; conducting recyling projects of used spectacles to be give to those who lost part of their vision and sight; and to the true cause of helping mankind. These activities can be coupled with prayers for all - the fortunate and the unfortunate. No one will quibble over the conduct. But activities centred to celebrate only the temples' honour or in the name of gods and Bhudda and to solicit funds is purely commercial and unethical. This is something most of us find it appalling. Religious activiites that are linkied to alleviating the suffering and sorrows of mankind are always welcome but do them with appropriate simplicity. Om.....
This was never in the teaching of Buddhism and definitely not written in the Sutras. This is manmade to glorify thier own ego and their desire which in the first instance should be done away with.

Learn from the great masters or scrpitures and good books, practice what you have learned and work with the unprivileged or needy groups as you go along the Buddhist Path, you will acquire the real hardship, suffering and experiences to see your true nature like a lotus emerges from the muddy pond untainted.

Understand the essence of Lord buddha teachings with clarity and practice with the heart-mind all the while instead of spenting money to build more new temples and institutions to promote the Ego of any particular group or religious leaders. Use the money and resources to build more free clinics and homes for the poor, old and needy. We need more awakened masters to lead the communities to do the right things or projects and to practice the right teachings like compassion, loving-kindness, selflessness and sharing. "Despite the clarity of the teachings, we often lose sight of this essential aim of eradicating mental poisons and self-clinging. In fact, instead of eliminating those poisons, we often end up increasing them. For example, people that practice the Dharma have a tendency to gather together and organize themselves. They create institutions, Dharma centers, and monasteries that can quickly become banners proclaiming their self-importance. 'We are this. We are that. We are Nyingma! Kagyu! Sakya! Geluk!' People in these institutions nominate someone to be president, secretary and treasurer. These officials can easily become proud of these titles. Gradually, their activities come to be at odds with their original purpose."
