One way to break through the feeling of emotional suffocation is to go someplace high where you can have a far-reaching view, such as the top of a mountain or a building. If the sky is clear, sit with your
back to the sun. Concentrate on the depth of the open sky without moving your eyes. Slowly exhale and experience the openness, vastness and voidness.
Feel that the whole universe has become one in the vast openness. Think that all phenomena - trees, mountains, and rivers - have dissolved there too. All have vanished like clouds disappearing from the sky. Relax in the feeling of openness, free from boundaries and limitations. This exercise is not only effective for calming the mind but can also generate higher realisation.
