AUG9.5

Lamchungpa's mind was very dull. So Lord Buddha taught him to repeat two phrases," Dust is cleansed. Defilements are cleaned." when he was cleaning the sandals of the monks.
Three new verses came to his mind.
'This is not the dust of earth,
 but of desire.
Dust is the name of desire and not of the dust of earth.
Learned ones who have cleansed the dust
Attain awareness in the doctrine of the Bliss-gone.'
' This is not the dust of earth, but of hatred.
Dust is the name of the hatred and not of the dust of earth.
Learned ones who have cleansed the dust
Attain awareness in the doctrine of the bliss-gone.'
'This is not the dust of earth, but of ignorance.
Dust is the name of ignorance and not of the dust of earth.
learned ones who have cleansed the dust
Attain awareness in the doctrine of the Bliss-gone.'
Then he diligently comtemplated the meaning of those lines and before long attained Arhathood, the state of total elimination of emotional and mental afflictions.
