NOV 10

1

When you understand how to live moment to moment, your life becomes more and more real and your fear and suffering have no chance to come near you. You begin to enjoy your living and you can share your happiness and joy with others. And heaven is just at hand.

2

Our dualistic mind creates the right and wrong. Realising it deeply, we see that every thing like our buddha nature is perfectly pure. There is no need to seek for enlightenment for it is with us all the time without noticing it. We have the wisdom and compassion. What we need to do is to share with others.

3

The important aspect of motivation is that we should be conscious of it in everyday life. We should be conscious of the body, we should be conscious of what we do, how we speak, and what we think. We should always be aware of the underlying root of each action. In Buddhism, we talk a lot about awareness. We talk a lot about being mindful. One of the beautiful things about Zen practice in its emphasis on intergrating mindfulness into everyday task.

The Zen master said that the huge oak tree has the roots go down as far as the trunk we see on top. "It is actually a metaphor for ignorance." If we can cut down the tree at its roots, there will be no more tree of ignorance. What we need is get right down and pull up those incredibly deep roots of ignorance. The only way to do that is to have a decisive realization of the nature of the mind. Jus
t to realise the nature of the mind is not enough because it is just the beginning of the path.
When the Sixth Patriarch Hui-neng got his first understanding of his nature of the mind, his master asked him to practice for another ten more years before he could start to preach.
So uprooting our roots of ignorance is very important. It is just the beginning of our spiritual path!

This morning I was talking to my tai chi students about this word 'poverty'. To most of us 'poverty' means poor or having no money or lacking of wisdom. To fully understand and have a direct experience is essential.
One day while I was in India with a few friends walking along a road path. I bought about six mangoes from the street stall and intended to go back to the hotel to enjoy the fruits. A
s we were walking passing a few streets, a little girl was following us tightly. I wasn't aware of that a little girl was tailing me because my mind was thinking of how and when I should eat the mangoes. When my friends pointed out to me that a young skinny little girl was following us, I turned around and looked at the girl. I began to stare at her and looked deep into her eyes. There were fear in her eyes, but her soul was communicating to my soul telling me that she hadn't eaten anything for days. Straightaway, I handled my bag of mangoes to her. She just took the mangoes from me and didn't utter a word. She quickly walked away. So we started to follow her. At last we saw her poor mother carrying a baby and there were two other young kids sitting on the floor just next to the side of a street. Oh, my God! That was their home at the side of a street. I saw her distributed the mangoes to her mother and the other siblings. Not only they ate the flesh, they even consumed the skins as well.
That is proverty that I had experienced. When I came back home, this view of suffering makes me understand the buddha's teachings much much more.

Any desire cannot be supressed. It will explode one day like a vocano. That is dangerous. Find out what is your desire and work on it. If it is beneficial to yourself and others, have it. And it is turned into greed that may hurt yourself and others, tranform it. Learn to be generous. Give and share with others. You will feel lighter and happier. Try it out. Why not?

A student asked me recently whether he should wake up early to look at the Sun in the early morning. His friend told him that the sun ray would hurt his eyes.
This student actually knew that I had been doing such practice for a year looking at the sun for at least an hour daily. My Taoist master taught this method for me to enhance my energy level. This is another form of meditation method. I found this method helps me to be more focus and my span of concentration has much improved. This method helps to clear my defilement and open up my meridians.
Please don't practice it unless you are guide by your master. I am just curious to find out any master knows and practices such method nowadays.

There is nothing in this world that can satisfy or fill up our heart except unconditional love. Our desire is endless, if we can't tame our mind. Sea water can not quench our thirst.
Look at the world around us, why so many people are living in poverty and suffer from diseases. Who are the one who have taken the worldy wealth away only for themselves, the politicians, government officials, the rulers, or the greedy bankers and why they neglect the rest? Will these corrupted people wake up one day?
